Today, our small family farm is nestled in Wake County, in an area that was considered rural when we first acquired the property. Over the years, we've witnessed a tenfold increase in development and traffic. We're now one of the few remaining active farms on what was once a quiet, rural road, with many of our fellow farmers retired, and the once-green, productive fields replaced by new homes.
At Hammonds Land & Cattle, we take pride in producing pasture-raised beef, pork, and free-range brown eggs, which we sell directly to local consumers. Our products are often reserved before they even leave the farm. We maintain a registered herd of Irish Dexter cattle, renowned for their gentle temperament and their high-quality, dual-purpose meat and milk. For pork, we prefer the Berkshire breed, known for its slow growth rate, docile nature, and exceptional meat flavor.
Throughout the year, we host a variety of educational activities on our farm. Annually, we welcome local Boy Scout troops for a day of fishing in our farm pond, fostering community ties and connecting youth with the land.
